Treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with Microcurrent
Stimulation
Carpal tunnel syndrome has become one of the most
common types of repetitive strain injuries, and has become a special
problem with the increased use of computers in the workplace. Treatment
of this problem is often quite difficult. When conservative measures
fail, people often are forced to resort to surgery to chart bring
some relief from the pain and disability that effects not only their
wrists eventually their arms and shoulders and necks. Unfortunately,
surgery is often not effective at bringing relief. At a recent conference
of hand surgeons that was attended by Dr. Miller, there were several
of the surgeons who said publicly that they believed that surgery
for carpal tunnel syndrome was almost completely ineffective. Those
people who improved with surgery, they felt, would probably have
gotten better without surgery.
There are, fortunately alternative treatments or
carpal, syndrome that have proven very effective. Acupuncture alone
or acupuncture together with microcurrent stimulation has been effective
in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The best prognostic
indicator that I have found is the age of the disease. Someone who
has had several weeks of symptoms responds much more quickly than
someone who has had symptoms that have lasted for years.
You can follow the link below to a web page by one
of the doctors who was involved with the 3 year study by the National
Institute of Health on the effectiveness of acupuncture. Dr. Margaret
A. Naeser has had some very good success in the treatment of carpal
tunnel syndrome with her techniques. She has been kind enough to
publish these techniques and there is a book available on her website
that explains them further. Her protocol for treatment is rather
complex but she has actually done some decent research to test the
effectiveness of her techniques and her results are quite impressive,
one of the most successful alternative approaches to the treatment
of carpal tunnel syndrome that we have seen. This at a time when
there are numerous reports coming from the surgeons about the ineffectiveness
of surgery for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.
This treatment is somewhat complicated, but treatments
are painless, the risks are virtually zero, and the success rate
is quite good. You may purchase Dr. Naeser's book which further
describes her techniquesby visiting her website. Dr. Miller can
assist you in pursuing this therapy if you desire.
