About Dr. Miller
Damon P. Miller II, M.D., N.D. was born and raised
in Columbus Ohio. He attended Yale University, graduating with a
bachelor of architecture degree in the class of 1976 before attending
medical school at the University of Cincinnati. He has been a physician
in the Western medical tradition since 1985. He began his post graduate
studies in internal medicine in Cincinnati and then proceeded to
a post graduate program in diagnostic radiology at UCLA which he
completed in 1990. He went on to do additional fellowship training
in Interventional Radiology/Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University
of California, Irvine, a program directed by Larry Stuart-Deutsch
M.D. and eventually joined the radiology department in El Camino
hospital in Mountain View, California.
As Doctor Miller watched the art of medicine become
the business of medicine he decided that it was time to pursue a
dream he had long held. Taking an eighteen month leave of absence
he studied acupuncture and herbal medicine intensively and is now
in private practice specializing in traditional acupuncture and
pediatric acupuncture at his office in Los Altos, CA. His studies
continued under the tutelage of Khosrow Khalighi, M.Ac.,C.A., a
student and protege of Professor J.R. Worsley. Having completed
a three year course of study, Dr. Miller now specializes in the
system of Classical Five Element Acupuncture perfected by Professor
Worsley. Following a long interest in pediatrics, Dr. Miller also
worked for a year with Julian Scott, the world's expert in Pediatric
Acupuncture, and sees infants and children as well as adults in
his Los Altos office.
Dr. Miller received certification as a Naturopathic
Physician in 1999, based on his extensive training and experience
in allopathic medicine as well as acupuncture.
Paralleling his interest in acupuncture has been
Doctor Miller's long interest in the work of a Swedish radiologist
Bjorn Nordenstrom, M.D. and his work Biological Closed Electric
Circuits. Doctor Miller has followed these interests into an additional
area of speciality involving the treatment of Macular Degeneration
and other retinal diseases using microcurrent stimulation. Doctor
Miller has found that there is a strong synergy between the techniques
of microcurrent stimulation and acupuncture which has proven particularly
useful in the treatment of musculoskeletal disease, retinal disease,
the treatment of chronic pain and the rehabilitation of neurological
injuries as well as the treatment of allergies and disorders of
the internal organs. Doctor Miller is involved with the International
Association for Biologically Closed Electric Circuits In Biomedicine
(IABC) and he believes that the seminal work and research by Doctor
Nordenstrom on the understanding and manipulation of the naturally
occurring electrical activities in the human body around the areas
of disease and injury contain the seeds of a better understanding
of why the ancient practice of acupuncture works.
